Holiday ORD!
Friday, September 29, 2006 0 comments

Yes! I have just returned from a relaxing holiday at Pulau Redang, off the east coast of Malaysia. The journey took us a whooping 10 hours! You would probably have rightly guessed that the ulu island is somewhere close to Thailand, but safe from the political unrest.

For our journey up North, we had the whole bus to ourselves! And typical of any group of army guys, we were up to some mischief!

And not to mention, the Super VIP bus was super comfortable.. We took Konsortium Bus Ekpres in case you're wondering.. haha..

After a long 10-hour, over-night bus ride and some searching, we finally found our resort's jetty, with a less-than-prominent-sign that says: Redang Reef Jetty. Can you spot the sign in the photo below?

The boat ride to Pulau Redang offered a panoramic view of the crytal clear sea and the islets scattered off the coast. Here is a selection of the photos we took on the boat:

The following 4 days and 3 nights at the Island were fun filled and exciting. The feature of our days were the 5 snorkelling trips where we were brought by boat to different snorkelling sites. In the waters around Redang Island, we have seen mushroom corals, clown fishes code-named "Nemo" thanks to Walt Disney, turtles, sting rays, sharks, eels, sea cucumbers, baracudas and plenty of colourful fishes under the guidance of a dive master. Sorry, but I have no underwater images to upload.. haha..

However, I do have some photos of creatures around my resort:

Anyway, we also visited the famous Mo Mo Cha Inn, where the chinese movie, Xia Ri Mo Mo Cha was filmed. During our trip, there was also an Indian film crew doing some recording. None of us know really if its Bollywood.. Anyone recognise the female lead? haha...

We did also find some time to do a little.. ROCK CLIMBING! haha..

Well, not quite actually.. We were just posing.. haha.. ;P

And we celebrated Leon's birthday too.. The resort was kind enough to help us arrange for a cake to be brought to the Island.

I was really surprised to meet Taffy in Redang! Considering we never met each other for the past year or so in Singapore, what are the chances of meeting each other on a distant Island?! haha..

On the morning before we checked-out, I managed to pull myself out of bed to catch a glimse of the proverbial sunrise. Herein a choice slection of my snapshots.

For the coach ride back home, the Konsortium Bus Ekpres combined Taffy's and my coach reservations and we took the Super Snoozer Bus! My coach bookings were for the cheaper Super VIP bus, but thanks to Taffy, we went back together by the airplane-style luxury bus which has a built-in personal entertainment system. There was so much leg space, I could not reach the leg rest! And the leg rest can even be adjusted so that I could reach it! Marvelous! (for those who do not remember, I am 6 feet tall - no hobbit at all)

Overall, the trip was fantastic! And it came at an affordable price! I spent a total of S$260, mainly because of gluttony, eating just before tea break, going for late night supper and buying excessive snacks along the way to Redang and back. For the transport and accommodations which includes 3 main meals and 1 tea break per day, for 4 days and 3 nights, I spent only S$208!! So, if you're planning an ORD trip, take my recommendation: destination Redang Reef Resort.

You won't believe that the following image was captured in Sg!

Any guesses where this is? Muhahahas..

Army Half Marathon

I just recieved the photos from my ORD run: The Army Half Marathon. What kept me running during the seemingly unending marathon is:
1. Percieveing it as my ORD run! Its my last 21km run b4 D-Day ORD!! haha.. I ran for as long as I could... Only making excuses to stop at isotonic points... haha..
2. Seeing much more senior runners tread relentlessly around my pace.. haha.. and not to mention the rare few ladies that pass me.. and all the males that juz keep running... and the good water point people that went beyond their call of duty to cheer us on... they all gave me strength at one point or another.
Here's a look at the photos:

b4 the run

Silver Medallion!

We all have 1 too.. =P

Cheers,

Jesus Take The Wheel
Sunday, September 10, 2006 1 comments

I guess its time for me to throw my hands in the air and proclaim, "Jesus take the wheel, take it from my hands", before I embark on the wrong route leading to somewhere I can't U-turn from. Its time for me to tell God once again to direct my life, though there are so many open routes that lead to a seemingly promising future, though I always think I know what exactly I want in life.. Jesus, take the wheel...

Galations 2 : 20
"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

Teachers' Day!!
Saturday, September 09, 2006 0 comments

This post does come slightly belated.. Weekends have been really hectic.. Rushing from camp on Friday nights to Tiong Bahru for tuition and back home to play DoTA till around 3am and waking up at 8am for tuition on Saturdays. After tuition, I usually rush to meet some friends and then rush home for family dinner. Then its DoTA into the wee hours of the night and waking up at 8am on Sundays for service followed by cell group meeting and soccer and lunch and tuition again.. hahas.. Guess there's no need to mention the dreadful book-in on Sunday nights.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I am really touched by the tokens of appreciation I recieved last week - my first Teachers' Day presents. My students are so sweet! The Winnie-the-pooh pencil case you see below, its filled with all sorts of girlish items, and sweets as well.. Giving tuition has been really rewarding for me. I get paid well and I love the job; I get a great sense of satisfaction and my students are so sweet!

To my students, you are a great bunch to teach! All the best for ya exams! =P

Cheers,

GTFuda... muahahas...
